Our Community Planning and Dreams, Inc.

Our community. Our plan. Our dreams.

A registered New York 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization

The principle

Autovicusfication

auto · vicus · fication — the community making itself

A community developing itself. Community-led self-development: the people who already live there building their own economy and becoming self-sufficient across as many sectors as humanly possible. It is the opposite of gentrification: the wealth, the businesses, the buildings, and the decisions stay with the community instead of replacing it.

The benchmark is the community's GDP: increasing it through a full spectrum of economic opportunity and commercial activity, so that the community is self-sufficient and OCPD is self-sufficient. It is a core, permanent principle of OCPD.

Full spectrum of commercial activity

Gentrification

  • Investment arrives from outside
  • Prices rise, residents are pushed out
  • Businesses change hands to newcomers
  • Decisions made elsewhere
  • The community is replaced

Autovicusfication

  • The community invests in itself
  • Residents stay and prosper
  • Residents own the storefronts, pods, and factories
  • Senators and presidents seated from the block
  • Self-sufficient across every sector it can reach

Homes

Families who stay, in homes that grow with them.

High-rises and five-family walk-ups side by side, planned by the people who live in them. A community developing itself.

Industry

High-tech factories run by resident innovators.

Industrialization and manufacturing are written into OCPD's core principle. The benchmark is the community's GDP, and the workforce is our own.

Activated sidewalks

Sidewalks activated with opportunity, for everyone, beautifully.

When a community registers, its sidewalks and waterfronts open for business: pods, kiosks, pavilions, and floating rooms run by the residents of the block. This is what the Autovicusfication progress looks like at street level, anywhere in the region.

Walk the block

A street of sidewalk pods, every one resident-owned.

Drag to look around, scroll or use the arrows to walk, tap a pod to see who could run it.

Ten pods, one block

Each pod is a business a resident of the chapter can open. Walk down the block and tap one.

The bold vision

Add 100 businesses to your community with bold vision.

Pods on the sidewalk, storefronts on the block, workshops and factories in the back, rooms on the water. One hundred resident-owned businesses in every chapter is how a community's GDP moves, and how the Autovicusfication progress is measured.

Our own BID

A Business Improvement District run by the community it serves.

OCPD is forming its own BID, starting in the first Community Area and open to every chapter in the region, with one benchmark: grow the community's GDP north of billions of dollars, through industrialization, manufacturing, retail creation, and the full spectrum of commercial activity.

Planning together

The community plans together for its future: a globally competitive epicenter of innovation.

The planning happens in our housing developments, in our companies with billion-dollar ambitions, and in our one-family brownstones. All of us working together to push our collective GDP, which rises all families, beyond what any city or outside initiative could ever dream of or fathom.

How a community joins

Three steps to a seat on the Community Board Panel.

1

Register

A neighborhood, a development, a city like Newark, or any community in the region registers on ocpd.live and opens its chapter: a live chat and a chat board for its residents.

2

Seat your representatives

At least four senators and one residential president, with equal power. Senators are elected by the community in which they reside and come from different alliances.

3

Carry ideas forward

Submit ideas and programs through the Community Visionary Fast Track. A chapter may also vote for home rule and run its local affairs under its own sub-bylaws.
